In this space, you can explore the emotional complexities of grief, learn how to manage
feelings of guilt and shame, gain insight into the grieving process and connect with
others who understand what you're going through. Together, we can identify coping
strategies to help you through the grieving process with greater self-compassion and
understanding.

FAQ'S
What if my parent died when I was a child, or many years ago? A parent’s death at any time in your life still leaves a sting in your heart, and the need to Losing a parent can be devastating, regardless of when it happens in your life. The grieving process can be tough, but it's essential to have a supportive community to help you move forward and grow. Whether the loss was recent or years ago, know that you are welcomed with open arms.
Can I bring a friend or support person with me to a community session? Absolutely! The presence of a familiar face can provide comfort in times of need. If someone you know would like to attend, they are welcome to register for the entire series.
What happens if I miss a session? We understand that life can get in the way sometimes. However, the other members of the community will miss you and look forward to your return.
What if I change my mind about joining? We hope that our community will be helpful for you, but if you decide within 3 days after registering that it's not for you, you'll receive a full refund. After that, a refund of half the registration fee will be issued. No refunds will be issued after the community has commenced.
Can new community members join at any point in the 6 week series? To foster a close-knit and trusting community, we will not accept new members after the first session. This allows members to form relationships with one another that will continue to.
What’s the difference between this grief support community and group therapy? The grief support community is a space co-created by its members to offer emotional support and a sense of belonging. Unlike group therapy, there is no predefined treatment plan or curriculum. To facilitate the space, Alyssa, the Certified Grief Educator, will offer themes, guidance, and suggestions based on her training and literature.
Can I have my camera off during the community sessions? Starting a video session can be daunting and awkward, especially when faced with a blank screen. To help everyone feel comfortable, it's recommended that all participants turn on their cameras during the first session. This will give everyone a chance to meet and establish community agreements. Following the establishment of these agreements, we'll adhere to them for subsequent sessions.
Why do participants have to live in California? Therapist are required, by law, to only provide therapeutic services to individuals who reside in the state where they are licensed. The law also requires that the particpant be in the state where the therapist is licensed at the time the service is being provided. Since my license is in California, I can only provide therapuetic services to people who reside in California and are in the state at the time of the service.
