You can look calm on the outside and still feel anxious on the inside.

Somatic, trauma-informed anxiety therapy for high-functioning adults whose minds don’t slow down, even when life looks fine.

Anxiety isn’t a flaw to fix. It’s often a protective response that has been working overtime, and it can learn a different way.

What High-Functioning Anxiety Can Look Like

It rarely looks like panic. More often, it looks like someone who has it all together.

Overthinking everything

Replaying conversations and rehearsing worst cases.

Always in to-do mode

Stillness feels unsafe, or unproductive.

A body on edge

A tight chest, a clenched jaw, restless sleep.

Perfectionism

Good enough never quite feels good enough.

Needing to be ready

Always scanning for what could go wrong.

Guilt around boundaries

Knowing your worth doesn’t make saying no feel comfortable.

Anxiety Is Often a Protective Response

Your anxiety didn’t show up to ruin your life. It learned to keep you safe.

It anticipates problems, stays ready, and pushes you to prepare. The trouble is that it doesn’t always know when to stand down, and your nervous system reacts before your mind catches up.

That’s why logic and reassurance often don’t stick. Somatic therapy works with that body-level response, so you can feel anxiety rise and still choose how you respond.

Overthinking Is Often Protection, Too

You can’t simply tell yourself to stop thinking.

Overthinking is trying to keep you safe by solving, predicting, and controlling. Instead of fighting it, we get curious about what it’s protecting you from, and use body awareness to interrupt the loop.

Notice the loop starting

Catch the thought spiral earlier, by the body cue that comes first.

Feel what’s underneath

Meet the sensation or emotion the thinking is covering.

Choose a different response

Pause, settle, and act from steadier ground.

Overthinking Is Often Protection, Too

High-functioning anxiety

Driven by worry. Your body feels wired, restless, and hard to settle.

Burnout

Driven by depletion. Rest doesn’t restore you, and motivation feels thin.

Panic

Sudden waves of intense fear, with strong physical symptoms like a racing heart.

They can overlap, and you don’t need to name it perfectly to ask for support.

How Somatic Therapy Works With Anxiety

We don’t just talk about worry. We also notice what your body does when it shows up.

1
Notice

We slow down and track where anxiety lives in your body.

2
Settle

Grounding and breath awareness help your system steady itself.

3
Explore

We look at where the pattern started, at a pace you can handle.

4
Build capacity

Instead of pushing through, you practice staying present with discomfort in small, manageable steps.

Progress isn’t getting rid of anxiety. It’s having more room to choose.

Capacity.

What Progress Really Looks Like

  • Anxiety rises, and you recover more quickly.

  • You notice the signal sooner, before it takes over.

  • You can set a boundary and sit with someone’s disappointment, without defaulting to people-pleasing.

  • You rest without guilt.

Support for the Anxiety You’re Carrying

Generalized anxiety

Panic attacks

Social anxiety

Health anxiety

Perfectionism

Overthinking

Anxiety-related sleep trouble

You don’t need a formal diagnosis to ask for help.

Joy, rest, and belonging are part of the plan.

What you’re moving toward matters as much as what you’re leaving behind.
